amparo badiola

(Bilbao, 1958).

She began dancing whilst finishing her studies in medicine at the University of the Basque Country. She continued training in dance independently, with a special interest in researching movement and choreography. She lived in England from 1988 to 2003 and combined dance with coordinating artistic projects.  Between 2007 and 2012, after returning to Bilbao, she collaborated as an artist and interpreter on Trembleators, a multidisciplinary project involving sculpture, dance and sound art which was presented at various festivals and galleries in the wider Basque Country, and at the Manchester International Festival (2009). Her most recent artistic project is Invisible Words (Amalaba). It led to a solo dance work presented for the first time in the Sala Baratza in Vitoria-Gasteiz (2014), and a short film (Elixir Festival, London. 2014).
