eremuak is opening a new space dedicated to critical reflection. The initiative stems from a series of working sessions and open debates exploring the current state of art criticism, its role, and its relevance today.
Rooted in a strong commitment to connecting art with its social, political, and cultural context, this platform aims to provide a place where the practice of criticism—and its formats—can be questioned, discussed, and reimagined.
In its first phase, conceived as an annual and rotating program, eremuak will invite one contributor each year to write the critical texts for the exhibitions that form part of the HARRIAK program. The series begins in 2025 with artist Julen García Muela (Beasain, 1993) and his exhibition 90 km aho-zirika.
The resulting texts will be published through local media, the eremuak website, and dedicated social media channels.
With this new initiative, eremuak seeks to strengthen archival and memory practices, offering valuable material for future critical perspectives.
