halfhouse 2019
The Technical Commission of Eremuak and members of the Halfhouse, after the evaluation of all the presented proposals, awarded the residency at the Halfhouse to Sahatsa Jauregi.
eremuak, in collaboration with Halfhouse, called for applications for a residency for artists from or residents in the Basque Autonomous Community. The proposal aims to support artists and/or creators working in the context of the visual arts.
The residency took place between July 8th and September 8th in the Halfhouse space in Barcelona, and culminated with an exhibition by the artist at the same venue, which was inaugurated on September 7th and its closure on 12 October.
As an example of collaboration between different initiatives, the Hangar artistic production and research centre was collaborating with Halfhouse for the 2019 eremuak residency to provide lodging for the resident artist.
Halfhouse is a non-profit space that develops projects within the artistic sphere. Since its founding in 2009, and through 2018, the project has been developed in the home of its pioneers, artists Sinéad Spelman and Alberto Peral. During this time, national and international artists have presented their work and led workshops at Halfhouse, with artist residencies having always been an important aspect of the space’s activities. Since 2016, Halfhouse has had a collaborative residency agreement with eremuak to invite an artist and/or creators from the Basque Country each year.
