OPEN CALL
In 2026, eremuak is launching a new open call for the fourth Quadrennial Exhibition. The proposal consists of offering a group of artists a workspace that is extended over time and geographically situated during the process of building a collective exhibition. The exhibition will take place at Guata Kultur Fabrika (Zalla-Aranguren), a three-story industrial building currently undergoing remodeling. Working from this indeterminacy presents an opportunity from which to establish the terms under which to conceive this collective exhibition.
From July to October, the artists selected through the open call will have access to the building and to other spaces in the surroundings of Zalla and Aranguren. A minimum of 8 artists will be selected. At the beginning of the residency, they will be accompanied by Leire Vergara—an independent curator and member of Bulegoa z/b, currently artistic co-director of the DAI Roaming Academy Master’s program in Artistic Practice—and Snejanka Mihaylova, a performer, writer, and co-founder of the publishing house The Last Books. Through a five-day workshop (from July 27 to 31), they will articulate the work process for the coming months. The exhibition will open on October 30 and 31, coinciding with the eremuak 2026 Conference.
The selection will be carried out by the eremuak Technical Committee, composed of Iñaki Garmendia, Raúl Domínguez, and Olatz Otalora, together with Chus Martínez—associate curator at TBA21 (Thyssen-Bornemisza Art Contemporary) in Madrid and director of the Institute Art Gender Nature FHNW Academy of Arts and Design in Basel (Switzerland)—as an external guest.
The application deadline is July 5, 2026
