iturfest 2018

Festival of contemporary culture that takes place within the neighbourhood of Iturralde. Artists are invited to create projects for the specific space and time in the neighbourhood of Iturralde, both in the public areas and in the shops. In parallel to this activity, throughout the week of the festival there will be workshops, concerts, screenings and microtheatre. Iturfest is a festival run with, for and by the neighbourhood, both for those who live there and for those who are passing through. It aims to bring art and contemporary culture closer to people’s everyday lives, breaking pre-established barriers, bringing artists and public closer together, carrying out practical mediation work. Iturfest consciously distances itself from the cultural centres of Bilbao to see the reality of everyday life from a different perspective, transforming and sharing the places and times of daily life through art.  An ongoing project, which continues throughout the year, involves the compilation of memories of the neighbourhood, working with residents. And this year we will once again distribute a series of postcards with old images of the neighbourhood and we will also update the guide on the history of Iturralde that will be distributed to the premises participating in Iturfest.

The participating artists in this year’s Iturfest are: Ixone Ormaetxe, Xabier Barrios, Maria Paniego, Olga Ruíz, Poderic Vital, Amaia Molinet, Saray Pérez, El relincho de la yegua / Behor-irrintzia, Iñaki Landa, Oihane Sánchez – Pablo M. Garrido, Artaziak, Truca Rec.
