This project arose out of an interest in the line, which was partly the result of a graphic work I had previously done for a commercial brand. Having worked with silkscreen printing for a while and the line drawings I made with black felt-tip pen, I became fond of this aesthetic and decided to take it to the pictorial field. In it I give importance to the use of different materials and techniques such as cut photographs, collage, in some cases, paint and spray paint.

It has graphic influences, from punk and fashion photography. I usually cut them with a blade, I play with reassembling them, mixing them, as if it were a cubist collage or a puzzle. I use traditional and computer or industrial methods: silkscreen printing, brushes, felt-tip pens, drawings created with Illustrator, and recently, a laser cutting machine.

Tracing a stencil manually means that you can reproduce a gesture or mark, even a brushstroke. This makes it possible to repeat it from one area of the painting to another, and that also interests me; it also means that it is no longer a direct brushstroke, for example, but a mediated one. The figure, if there is one, is the cut-out on the inside or just the outline highlighted by the spray paint, or the paint stain or the felt-tip pen. There is no answer, this abstract/figurative and background/figure dualism has always been in my work. In this project I want to further explore the use of stencils for canvas as well as the silhouette itself to create reliefs or collages with different materials.
