feminist art productions: processes of knowledge, visualities and itineraries

Within the context of the Basque Country, contemporary art institutions have fostered a number of programmes, talks, research and conferences on the production of feminist art. This phenomenon took place between the end of the nineties and the beginning of the 2010s. The two main institutions that provided space for these activities were Arteleku in Gipuzkoa (Provincial Council of Gipuzkoa) and Montehermoso in Vitoria-Gasteiz (Vitoria-Gasteiz City Hall). In this paper we are not going to ask why these spaces disappeared. Nevertheless, we will reflect upon feminist art productions as knowledge processes; as catalysts of a number of different critical theories of different types of feminism, queer and trans theories; as starting points for rethinking public policies and as generators of visualities. To do this, it is essential to see how we have been configured as subjects of knowledge in specific cultural contexts.
