Jakite gabean is a joint project from Sarah Rasines and Enrike Hurtado. It is a study that seeks to find cassette recordings created by different artists from the 1960s and 1970s at the time when cassette technology became popular, allowing many artists to explore “do-it-yourself” sound experiments inspired by specific music that had been so influential in decades past. We think that finding and more deeply analysing these works can offer new understandings of the community on their works. Based on these efforts, we wish to create a singular album recorded live in studio where we will put what we have learned through our research work into practice.
