sacude el cielo

I am conceiving this proposal as time to draw, without seeking out pre-determined results. My intention is to let this correlation between time and drawing decide its path for me. Since 2020, I have been turning to a constant flow of characters, symbols/forms, and situations as a starting point for finding affections and emotions, locating them outside the body and sustaining them in time. Two texts that I have read during the last year support me in completing this proposal, on movements such as folding, which have recently appeared in my practice, and the desire to draw out a world.

I will share a passage from one of them, from Pedro Lemebel’s novel “My Tender Matador”, published in 2001: “From the depths of her fantasies of a faggot in love, she watched the chin-chin of the crystal turn into the shattering of broken glass and bloody liquor that ran down the sleeves of the happy generals. Red wine splashed on the table, seeped into the cloth, spread out into huge blots where her little birds drowned, where her sweet cherubim, like insects made of muddied thread, flapped their wings in vain in the thick flood.”
